I’m Baaaaaccckk!!

It has been a while but I finally made it back to the ‘real world’. We had a great time in North Carolina last week (if you didn’t get a chance be sure to check out our mission trip blog HERE to get all the juicy details about what we were doing). If you want to see a video…err slideshow (set to music, no thanks to Mr. H, however there is music just the same) then click HERE. The picture quality is a little fuzzy but I think that is to be expected when you upload something large like that to an online video site.

The class reunion before we went on the mission trip was also a good experience. Aside from not being recognized by most of the people I went to school with (any of you who have seen the pictures of “high school Nick” know why) it was really nice to catch up with some of those people. And it came as no surprise that Laura knew almost as many people there as I did, in fact the very first person we saw inside the door was someone from her sorority at Alabama that married one of my classmates (go figure). It was good. I’m glad I’m in a different place than the majority of those people, but all in all it was not a bad night. EXCEPT…I cannot believe I forgot to mention this. The reunion was held at the Selma Country Club and the AIR CONDITIONING DID NOT WORK THE WHOLE NIGHT. Holy schnikes it was hot in there!

Well I just came back in on the end of this post (I just spent the last 2 hours cutting my jungle of a yard) and now it is time to wrap things up. Have a great day!

Ten Years Gone

14 07 2007

Well it is Saturday afternoon and in a few short hours I will be somewhere I never really thought I might be. My TEN YEAR high school class reunion. Now don’t get me wrong it is not that I envisioned myself dead or decapitated and thus unable to attend the reunion when it rolled around, but I just didn’t know if I would care or not. To be 100% honest I’m still not sure if I really care, but I am going anyhow. I will certainly have a post about the event when I get back, but it may have to be ‘tape-delayed’ for one week, as I am going out of town.

First thing tomorrow morning Mrs. M and me and 2 other adults and 9 youth are departing for the mountains of Western North Carolina for a week of mission work at the Hinton Rural Life Center in Hayesville, North Carolina. This promises to be a great week or serving other people and relaxing in an environment that has approximately 200% less humidity that we do here in Alabama. Whilst we are away there is going to be a blog for you, my dear readers (the tens of you that I have) as well as the parents and the rest of the church family. The camp we are going to has wireless internet so I will be able to post pictures and updates each day of the work that is being done. Please check it out at youthmissiontrip.wordpress.com and be sure to keep us in your thoughts and prayers. See you next week!

And Boom Goes the Dynamite!

So here we are 4th of July style. I don’t have a whole lot to report. I am sitting in our freshly painted office (for we are in the midst of continuing the decorating of the parts of the house that have been forsaken since we moved in).

Last weekend was my brother’s wedding (scary isn’t it?) but it was a nice affair filled with all kinds of moments that you laugh with family about and that add it all up to be an event to remember.

Yesterday I took the afternoon to go see Transformers and with a lot of expectation resting on it I can honestly say it DELIVERED in a MAJOR WAY!! If you have any interest at all I highly recommend you go check it out.

That’s all I have for today. Enjoy your holiday!!
