The New Year Looms

27 12 2006

Changes galore are in order. I love when a new year starts and I love the possibilities of starting new things or changing the way I do other things. I am especially excited about this upcoming 2007. I am looking to write more very soon (I know I know that’s the standard line for people who don’t blog enough…but it is true). I will tell you this…2007 has been declared (by me and my lovely wife) to be the “Year of Fitness”. I am going to get in the best shape of my life, and as the beginning of that process draws near I am actually attempting to go out with a bang. I currently weigh 191 pounds and am looking to gain the last 9 between now and Monday at which point I will take the obligatory “before” pictures (nothing too indecent I promise) and then begin my journey. I will do my best to keep you updated about it, and probably seek encouragement at the same time. I know none of us live really all that near one another but anyone else that wants to join me in my quest for physical fitness should let me know and we can all keep each other accountable (you know,  by calling each other things like “saddle bags”, “man boobs”, and “fat@$$”). I will try to detail more about my plans for health in the next day or so.

Christmas ’06 was magnificient, and I am so blessed to have such a wonderful family (on all sides) and to be able to see them all. Emily, Dave and Brea (the most beautiful baby girl ever) were all here now that they aren’t in Belgium anymore, and it was so good to have them back. I was very fortunate to have received many awesome gifts (especially my new favorite hat that I wear ALL THE TIME) and enjoyed very much giving gifts to so many people that I love.

I am excited about the New Year, and I hope you are too. Talk to you soon!

Wedding Cake 1 Year Later…

13 12 2006

…tastes like frozen cardboard (and the chocolate is even worse).

It has been a little while since I checked in (yes I’m continuing to lag in my blogging…sorry). Much has been going on. Obviously we are waist deep in the Christmas season and with that comes Christmas parties, shopping, and generally a little bit busier schedule at work than usual. Final exams are happening for me this week in my graduate school classes. I’ve taken one already and have another tomorrow night. I really am enjoying being in school, but it takes up so much of the the little bit of time I thought I had that it will be nice to have a break for a few weeks until the spring semester begins.

Most importantly, over the weekend Laura and I celebrated our 1 year wedding anniversary (Dec. 10th). It truly is amazing to me where God has brought me over the last year-plus and I am eternally grateful for all of his blessings.

Come the first of the year I am going to attempt to get some thoughts I’ve been having out into my blog and give you something to read besides my day to day comings and goings. Until then and if I don’t blog before (hopefully not the case).
